Illinois Teacher Reciprocity Agreements

Illinois offers the opportunity for teachers from out-of-state to qualify for Illinois teaching certification through reciprocity agreements. You will need to have completed an approved teacher education program and/or currently hold a valid teaching certification from another state at the time of your application for Illinois licensure. For more information about the process of becoming certified as an out-of-state teacher, explore the Illinois State Board of Education’s website, or call 866-262-6663.

The following are member states of the NASDTEC Interstate Agreement who have signed reciprocity agreements with Illinois.
