Wyoming Teacher Certification Renewal
Learn how to renew a Professional Educator Certification or reinstate a Professional Educator Certification in Wyoming
Teaching Certification Renewal
The Wyoming Professional Teachers Board (PTSB) requires educators to renew their teaching certifications every five years.
The first step to renewing your teacher’s license is to fill out an application page, found here.
Certification renewal application packets must contain the following items:
- The Renewal Application Checklist
- Application Form
- Individual Requirements Form
- Fee Payment Form with payment attached
- Official Transcripts, if applicable
- PTSB-approved workshop credit
All teachers are required to complete professional development/renewal credits in order to be eligible for renewal. These requirements vary depending on the licensure a teacher holds, but generally require five Professional Development/Renewal credits to complete.
Renewal credits are obtained from accredited institutions, including community colleges and PTSB-approved workshops. Credits may also be earned through obtaining National Board Certification.
Depending on a teacher’s content focus, renewal credits must meet specific standards. This means that any courses or workshops a teacher takes for credit must be associated with their content areas. If you have concerns about credit not counting toward renewal, contact the PTSB at (307) 777-7291.
Reinstatement of Certification
If a teacher has previously held a Wyoming teacher’s certificate that has expired, they must seek reinstatement.
Teachers who need to be reinstated must meet all of the original initial application requirements, and submit their application packet to the PTSB at:
