Teaching Certification Renewal
After fulfilling the requirements and receiving your Initial License to teach in North Dakota, you must successfully teach for 18 months in a state school before applying for your Regular Professional License. You must also have been under contract with a North Dakota school for at least 30 days within the past five years, and have completed six professional development renewal credits in that time.

Reinstatement of Certification
If you have not held a North Dakota teaching license for more than five years, you may apply for re-entry. You must have completed at least four semester hours of professional development credit within the past five years to be eligible. If you sign a teaching contract during the licensure period, you must complete eight semester hours of reeducation. You may use the same renewal form as above for reinstating your North Dakota teaching license.
