Montana Substitute Teaching License
Montana does not offer substitute teaching permits or require any type of license for those who wish to substitute teach in the state. The hiring of substitute teachers is up to each individual school district, which also sets its own requirements for substitute teachers. Some Montana school districts may only employ substitute teachers who have a teaching license, while others do not require this. According to the National Education Association, Montana’s substitute teachers who are licensed make from $65 to $85 per day. Unlicensed substitute teachers can expect a daily pay rate of $50 to $75. Some school districts in the state allow teachers to pre-select preferred substitute teachers. The state is still experiencing a severe lack of available substitute teachers.
Education Requirements
