Hawaii Teacher Reciprocity Agreements
Hawaii offers certification to professional teachers from other state who hold valid teaching certifications at the time of their application for Hawaii teaching certification. There are two avenues to proceed with the certification process as an out-of-state teacher. The options depend on whether you hold a state-issued teaching certification or a NBPTS certification. With either situation, you will need to have your current certifying state send verification of your completion of a teacher education program and passing scores of basic knowledge and skills examinations or have the educational institution and testing organizations send transcripts and scores directly to the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board.
